On the bus this morning
I saw a young woman
Rifling through her purse.

She was looking for her bus pass
And the driver waited,
Impatiently, for her to find it.

Five minutes later, I said,
“Here.”

I used my pass
And swiped her on.

“Thanks,” she said,
Hurriedly making her way
To a seat.

I don’t believe in karma,
But I do believe
It never hurts
To give a helping hand.

Most people
Don’t give a shit
About anything.

I’ve tried my whole life
Not to be
Most people.

It’s a lot harder
Than it seems
But all it takes
Is an honest try.
