All we do is chase paradise
Day after day after day.

We wake up early,
Take the train to work
And daydream of touching Heaven
With our bare hands.

I know that if I ever saw Heaven
With my own eyes, I’d sear them shut
Because after that, well,
The rest of the world
Would just be
An afterthought.

After all this work
With little respite and
What feels like so little
To look forward to
On most days

It’s hard not to wonder
Why we don’t just
Give up.
